Yummy Date Shakes

date shakeThis is one of my favorite go-to meals.  Creamy smooth and perfectly sweet, this shake makes for a filling yet healthy treat.  Here are the ingredients and the recipe…

shake ingredientsIn a blender, combine:

5 Medjool organic dates
1/2 T Hemp Protein Powder
1 T almond butter (plain)
3-4 ripe organic bananas
2 C almond milk
2 or more cups ice

(Portions are approximate.  Feel free to experiment depending on your own personal tastes & desires.)

Mix everything in a blender & enjoy!

*makes 2 large servings

One thing to note:  I’ve tried this shake using a regular blender and while it’s still good, my Cuisinart had a difficult time pureeing the dates completely.  For best results, I recommend using a VitaMix or similar blender for a really smooth and creamy shake.

This recipe was inspired by a shake which my girlfriend turned me onto.  It was offered by a cute little cafe down in the Pacific Palisades.  Drinking my version of it now brings back memories of warm, sunny afternoons filled with smiles and laughter.
